Privacy Policy

Stmnt is a bank statement analyzer for iPhone. It is built to keep your finances on your device. You do not create an account, and your analyzed data is stored locally on your phone, not on our servers.

The short version

• No account and no sign-up. We do not ask for your name, email, or login.
• Your statements, transactions, reports, and settings are stored only on your device.
• We do not sell your data, show you ads, or use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
• To read your statements, the text of a statement you upload is sent to an AI provider for extraction. It is used to return your transactions, not to advertise to you.

Information stored on your device

When you upload a bank statement, Stmnt extracts the transactions and stores the results in the app's private local storage on your device. This includes your transactions, saved reports, category corrections, exchange-rate cache, and app settings. This data does not leave your device except through the optional features described below, and you can erase it at any time (see "Deleting your data").

Information processed to provide features

Some features require sending data to a service in order to work. Each is limited to what the feature needs:

• AI extraction and insights. The text extracted from a statement you upload (and, for smart tips and chart generation, a summary of your transaction data) is sent to our AI provider to parse transactions and generate insights. It is processed to return results to you and is not used to build an advertising profile.
• Currency conversion. When converting currencies, the app requests published exchange rates from a public rates service. Only currency codes are sent, never your transactions.
• Subscriptions. On iPhone, purchases are handled by Apple's In-App Purchase and by RevenueCat, which processes your subscription status and a random, non-personal app-user identifier to unlock Pro features and restore purchases. Payment is handled by Apple; we never receive your card details.
• Push notifications. If you enable notifications, a device push token is processed by OneSignal to deliver reminders (for example, a trial-ending reminder). You can turn notifications off in iOS Settings at any time.
• Optional sharing and sync. If you choose to share a report, its contents are encrypted on your device with AES-256 and stored, in encrypted form, using Supabase so a collaborator can open it. The decryption key travels only inside the share link you send. Sharing is off unless you start it.
• Optional iCloud backup. If you enable backup, a copy of your data is stored in your own private iCloud (CloudKit) container, controlled by your Apple ID. We cannot access it.

What we do not do

• We do not require or store accounts, names, emails, or passwords for using the app.
• We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
• We do not include advertising SDKs or cross-app tracking, and we do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA).

Third-party services

The services that may process data on our behalf are: the AI provider used for extraction and insights, a public exchange-rate service for currency conversion, Apple and RevenueCat for in-app purchases, OneSignal for push notifications, Supabase for optional encrypted sharing, and Apple iCloud for optional backup. Each processes only the limited data described above and under its own privacy terms.

Data retention and deletion

Because your data lives on your device, deleting it is in your control. You can remove statements and reports inside the app, and deleting the app removes its local data from your device. If you used optional sharing, you can reset or remove a shared report from within the app. If you enabled iCloud backup, you can delete the app's data from iCloud in your device's iCloud settings. To request deletion of anything held for optional sharing, contact us using the details below.

Children

Stmnt is intended for adults managing their own finances and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
